The current Men’s State Champion is Jessie Wayne Goforth.  The current Women’s State Champion is Verdell Woollard.  The current Elder’s State Champion is Warren Woolsey.  The current Junior Boys State Champion is Leland Reynolds.  The current Junior Girls State Champion is Donna Coons.  The current Men’s Doubles State Champions are John Peplinski and Byron Jarrett.  The current Women’s Doubles State Champions are Debbie Burrows and Verdell Woollard.  The current Elder’s Doubles State Champions are Ken Duquet and Robert Farnsworth.  The current mixed distance Doubles State Champions are Ron Deckard and Ken Duquet.  Chuck Gibsonis the current  Player of the year” based on in class tournament performance.

Ron Deckard has the highest pitching percentage of the 40-foot Men’s class of 66.3.  Tom Hall has the highest pitching percentage of the Elder’s class of 71.5.  Verdell Woollard has the highest pitching percentage of the Women’s class of 69.4..  210 members have pitched in 5 or more tournaments in the last twelve months from a membership of 422. The average pitching percentage is 31.7.  Eighty-seven FSHPA Inc. sanctioned tournaments are scheduled this season.

The State Closed Championship Tournament will be held on April 22/23/24/25, 2009 at Beverly Hills.  Closing date for State Closed is April 1, 2009.  Participation in the State Closed Tournament is limited to Florida residents that have pitched in 5 or more FSHPA Inc. sanctioned tournaments or 4 FSHPA Inc. sanctioned tournaments and an NHPA sanctioned league; excluding the 2008 State Closed Championship Tournament, during the period of April 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009.
