COMMENTS FROM THE THIRD VICE PRESIDENT

 

A reminder that the Florida Club Team Tournament in Clearwater has been rescheduled to January 24, 2009, because of the conflict with the Super Bowl Football Game being in Tampa in 2009 on January 31st.   So mark your calendars for January 24th, 2009 for the Florida Club Team Tournament in Clearwater.  The rules for the Club Team Tournament are in this December Newsletter.  Also take note that the Brooksville and St. Cloud Tournaments have been moved to January 31, 2009, so we could have the Club Team Tournament on January 24, 2009.    

 

Florida has a new Horseshoe Club, the Del Webb Horseshoe Club in Summerfield, Florida.  The club President is Bob Bernardo and the Tournament Director is Tom Grills.  To see the club officers, tournament information and directions to the Del Webb Horseshoe Club just go to any horseshoe club web site and go to click here for information about other horseshoe clubs in Florida and it will take you to a map of Florida.  Then you can click on Summerfield and it will take you to the Del Webb Horseshoe Club.  They have 12 very nice horseshoe courts, with full walkways, blue clay, and a very large pavilion right next to it.  Their horseshoe court facility has already been sanctioned.  Jim Smith has done an excellent job on getting the Del Webb Horseshoe Club Web Site up and running.  So check it out. 

 

With January and the New Year coming soon, Tournament Directors need to check NHPA cards for the players in their tournaments.   They need to check the number and the year to make sure they have 2009 cards.  So before every tournament, the Tournament Directors should check the Latest Averages List on the Florida Web Site to make sure the players in their tournament have an updated 2009 NHPA card.  If they are not updated to 2009 cards on the Web Site the Tournament Director should ask to see their NHPA card, and then let me know when they turn in their tournament results to update the Florida Data Base with the 2009 year.

  All of the news has been covered by the other Executive Council members.  There is still a need for two volunteers to fill out the by-laws committee.  Anyone willing to help make contact me or Jerry Michal;ek of the Brevard club.
