The Club Team Championship tournament is scheduled for
Saturday, January 30, 2010 in
club team tournament remains a count-all handicap tournament with no limit on combined team entering ringer
percentage. Clubs entering more than one team must balance their players with 50% or higher ringer average
among their teams. The
major difference this year is that the Executive Council approved using a 100%
handicap instead of 90%. The complete rules are published elsewhere in this newsletter. It’s time to start
forming your teams now. We need to remember this is supposed to be a fun tournament that will bring all of
the clubs together at one place to pitch horseshoes, socialize, and have fun. Any team pitching close to their
combined team ringer percentage has an excellent chance of winning. If more than 12 teams are entered then
3 shifts will be scheduled on Saturday. Sunday will be available in case of a rain out on Saturday, or if more
than 18 teams enter this event. In 2008 there were 15 teams entered. I hope all of the clubs will participate.
The Days Inn Clearwater Central Motel at 2940 Gulf to
is the recommended motel if you plan on staying overnight. I will work on securing a special rate for Friday
and Saturday nights and get the information posted on the internet. When you make your reservation let
them know you are coming for the horseshoe tournament.
As the Hall of Fame Committee Chairman I would like to remind everyone that the deadline for Hall of
Fame nominations is March 1st, 2010. Anyone may recommend a candidate. The nominating letter should
be addressed to the Chairman, Hall of Fame Committee and contain a history of the candidate’s
accomplishments in sufficient detail to permit an intelligent evaluation of the person’s entitlement to this
recognition. Hall of Fame nominees must have been a
resident of
minimum of five years.
Nominees must be an
outstanding player or a member who has performed outstanding service to
FSHPA Inc., and/or
NHPA, over a period of many years.
I hope to see you all at a tournament soon. Good Luck and Good Pitching.

SECOND VICE PRESIDENT’S REMARKS
During the past 3 years I have
spent considerable time and work in an effort to improve the Club Team
Tournament to the point where
all clubs would have a fair chance to win the tournament and would be eager
to enter into it. In order to achieve this lofty goal it is
necessary to keep trying different formats until we hit
on the one that works best
and delivers the desired results. With
that in mind, I encourage everyone to
assemble their team or teams
and enter into the tournament in January.
The results will be analyzed and further
improvements made if
possible.
Bettie and I wish everyone a
happy holiday season.
