Florida Schedule of Tournaments for 2011 – 2012

The Schedule of Tournaments is on the Florida Web Site, Revised January 2, 2012.  Just click the yellow banner under the Horseshoe Clubs.  Then Click to view 2011-2012 Tournament Schedules.

 

FSHPA Trading Post – The Trading Post is information on horseshoe accessories you wish to trade, buy or sell.  It is located on the Florida Web Site, just click the yellow banner under the Horseshoe Clubs.  It is the first line under date, just click to enter Florida’s Trading Post.  To post just click Editor Login, and you can type what you wish to trade, buy or sell.

The Winter Haven Horseshoe Club has canceled their January and April 2012 tournaments.  The good news is they will be having their February 3, 2012 and March 2, 2012 tournaments.

Winter Haven has a new Tournament Director Frank Rowland.  Please check the revised Florida Schedule of Tournaments for 2011-2012 on the Florida web site for more details. 

  

The Florida Club Team Tournament will be held at the Sebring Horseshoe Club this year on January 28, 2012.  Please check the December 2011 Florida Newsletter on the Florida Web Site for the Club Team Tournament Rules.  Sign up for the Club Team Tournament with your Florida Horseshoe Club.  The host hotel for the Club Team Tournament is the Inn On The Lakes in Sebring.  Rooms are $75.00 per night which includes a Full Breakfast.  Reservations 1-800-531-5253 mention you are with FSHPA to get the discount room rate.  The address of the Inn On The Lakes is 3101 Golfview Road, Sebring, FL 33870.

The FSHPA Executive Council Meeting will be held at the Inn On The Lakes in Sebring, the host hotel for the Florida Club Team Tournament, on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM. 

If you would like to attend the meeting please check with the front desk, which room the meeting will be held in.

 

The St. Cloud Horseshoe Club has changed the start time of their tournaments to 9:00 AM effective as of the December 10, 2011 Tournament.  Please pass the word with your Horseshoe Clubs and horseshoe friends.

 

The Oak Bend Horseshoe Club has changed their 2012 Horseshoe Tournaments from Saturday to the second Friday of the month.  That would be January 13, February 10, March 9, April 13 and May 11, 2012.  The tournaments will be the same number, titles, fees and notes with a February tournament added.  Please check the Schedule of Tournaments for 2011-2012 on the Florida Web Site for more detailed information.

The Oak Bend Horseshoe Club had (1) Non-Sanctioned Class in their September 17, 2011 tournament and will have one at all other tournaments as long as they receive at least (3) contestants.  See the FSHPA Executive Council Announcement posted below for information regarding a non-sanctioned class in a tournament.

 

 

FSHPA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENT

Updated September 2011

 

To promote interest in Horseshoe Pitching in Florida the FSHPA Executive Council is asking FSHPA Chartered Clubs to participate in the following promotional programs.

 1. All New Members applying for 2012 Membership will receive $10.00 off the FSHPA annual dues and will only be required to pay the $17.00 NHPA dues to become a Member of NHPA/FSHPA for 2012.

2. We are also requesting that FSHPA Chartered Clubs run (1) NON-Sanctioned Class when they run their scheduled tournaments using the format below if there are contestants & courts available.

 

1.       All Pitchers shall be Florida Residents based on FSHPA & NHPA BYLAWS.

2.       Any person that was not a FSHPA Member in 2011 is eligible to Compete.

3.       Charge the Non-FSHPA Horseshoe Pitchers a $5.00 Entry Fee and have them pay Scorekeeping fees where applicable.

4.       Classes may consist of 3 to 8 pitchers. Classes with only 3 Pitchers should use the Double Round Robin format.

5.       Games may be played using either the 40 or 50 shoes per game.

6.       Pitching distance shall be either 30 or 40 ft. based on NHPA Bylaws.

7.       All players shall pitch 100 shoes prior to the date of the Tournament witnessed by an NHPA member. The NHPA member shall then call the appropriate Tournament Director with the player’s Ringer Average at least 24 hrs. prior to the Tournament.

8.       Classes Shall Be Handicapped where the difference between the Highest and Lowest Ringer Average is more than 10%. The Handicap Shall Be 80% of the difference.

9.        A Minimum of 100 shoes shall be pitched so that people awarded Membership meet the 100 shoe requirement pertaining to entering average when they play in their first sanctioned tournament. (3 & 6 player classes would require the participating club to pay the $2.00 or $4.00 difference for membership). 

10.   Games shall be played using the HSMaster Head to Head format to break any ties if necessary.

11.   Prizes awarded shall be a one year Membership in the NHPA/FSHPA based on $17.00 per. Membership. In the 4, 5, 7 & 8 person classes the club retains the few dollars extra to cover expenses.

12.   Participating Clubs shall provide the winners with an application and help in filling it out if necessary. Once completed the participating club shall send the applications to Marcela Santoyo along with $17.00 per. Membership paid from Entry Fees collected to cover NHPA/FSHPA Membership fees.
