COMMENTS BY THE SECOND VICE PRESIDENT
From my point of view the
State Closed Tournament was an unqualified success. It was quite evident that extensive planning
and a great deal of work went into the preparation for, and conduct of, the
event. I feel sure that every FSHPA
members will agree that the Brevard County Horseshoe Club is to be commended
for their support of our association. In
particular, I call your attention to the less glamorous areas of support: food
service and grounds keeping. For all the
people involved in these activities, we should be most grateful; but especially
to Mrs. Roberta Peplinski and Mrs. Joyce Smith for
food service and to Mr. Joe Strong and Mr. Gino Pepe
for keeping the courts and surrounding areas neat. Without such contributions of service our
association could not exist in its present form. Many thanks to all of you.
I know others have or will
acknowledge the work of Mrs. Lou Robison on the computer but I wish to add my
appreciation and thanks for her service.
It is not an easy job and I believe few could have done it as well as she.
It has been a wonderful
season capped with a great tournament.
Here’s hoping you have very enjoyable summer.

COMMENTS FROM THE EDITOR
With sincerest gratitude I
wish to thank those of you that sent cards of sympathy and prayers to me for
the great loss of my wife Phyllis “Sam” on April 21, 2007. These cards have meant a lot and have helped
me get through this difficult period. I
have decided to use this medium to convey my gratitude rather than individual
cards of thanks to the horseshoe players that sent cards. I, also, believe that these cards and prayers
were sent in remembrance of “Sam” as she always brought a smile and made people
smile and laugh when she was around. Even
in death she has made some people smile as she left a generous gift to the St.
Jude’s children’s hospital. Before she
died she said “I don’t want friends to send flowers as that is a waste of
money, instead I would like for them to contribute to St. Jude’s”.
