COMMENTS FROM THE THIRD VICE PRESIDENT

This year the Florida Junior Horseshoe Pitchers Scholarship Award for $900.00 went to Leland Reynolds.  Leland received the Jr. Scholarship Award at the Annual Awards Banquet at the State Tournament in Melbourne on Saturday, April 21, 2007.   Congratulations Leland!

The winners of the $100.00 John Reynolds, Jr. Memorial Horseshoe Scholarship Award were Jr. Girl State Champion, Donna Coons and Jr. Boy State Champion, Hayden Cohen.

Both of their awards have been sent to them.  Congratulations Donna and Hayden.

All the Jr. Scholarship information has been sent to the U.S. Family Foundation, so when Leland, Donna and Hayden have graduated from High School they can use the scholarships to further their education.

As the Florida State Statistician it is my duty to inform you that the individual results of the Florida 35-07-076 Florida Closed Mixed Doubles in Melbourne on 04/18/2007 were lost due to a computer error, and we can not retrieve them.  The hard copies were thrown out by accident.  We have a copy of the results of the Mixed Doubles, but it is of both players together and that does not help with the individual results to send to NATSTATS.  I don’t know how else to explain it, except it was a computer error causing lost individual results with no backup hard copy.  We had a lesson to be learned on this one.  Next year there will be hard copies made for at least two EC members, which we have done in the past.  We don’t know what happened this year.  Sorry for the problem.  Our World of Horseshoes had a hard lesson here.

I would like to thank the Melbourne Club for all their hard work to get ready for the State Tournament, especially the women in the kitchen for all their time and work making sure we had lunch and refreshments all week.   We can not forget Jim Smith, because without Jim we would not have any pictures of our State Tournament, so we can have our remember when’s.  Thanks Jim for all your Time and Talents!

A special thanks to all the players who came from all over the state to compete in the Florida State Tournament.  You made the State Tournament an exciting and fun place to be.  Congratulations to all the State Class Champions, State Champions and all the players who got a special award.

I wish you all a safe and fun filled summer with family and friends.  Remember “To The World You Might Be One Person; But To One Person You Might Be The World.”
