COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

JUNE 2008

Another tournament year has come to an end with a successful State Tournament, which concluded with the Awards Banquet Saturday evening. Again the Women’s and Elders State Champion class were tied at the end of regulation. The Women’s State Champion was Verdell Woollard for the second straight year by defeating Debbie Burrows in the tiebreaker. The Elders State Champion was Warren Woolsey defeating Ray Hood in the tiebreaker. Ray Hood had a 94% ringer average game in class play on Friday. Nice going Ray! Wayne Goforth is the Men’s Champion. Congratulations to all of you. In the Junior Division, Boy’s State Champion was Leland Reynolds. There was no Junior Girls that pitched this year. My congratulations go out to all the winners in the Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. But most importantly all pitchers that participated are winners by being good sports.

Congratulations to Mike Tatonetti and Joe Robbins on being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Thanks to the Clearwater HSC for being an outstanding host. Ron Deckard and his team put in a lot of hard work in preparation for the State Tournament. I also want to thank the Executive Council, members from other clubs that helped during this tournament. And of course I must not forget to thank all the folks that kept score for four days.

Your Executive Council remains the same with the reelection of Byron Jarrett as Second VP, Vicki Marteney as Fourth VP and John Peplinski as Sec/Treas. I look forward working with the council over the next year and I can assure you that we will do what is best for the Association and we will continue to work together to accomplish this.

The next Executive Council Meeting will be held at Vicki Marteney’s residence on August 1, 2008 starting 10AM.
