Comments From First Vice President

Congratulations to Verdell Woollard on repeating as Women’s State Champion, Tom

Hall on winning the Elder’s State Champion, and Leland Reynolds repeating as Junior

Boys State Champion. Thanks to all of you that participated in the State Championship

Tournament and congratulations to all the State Class Champions also. As usual, I had a

great time at the State Tournament and I hope you did also.

Congratulations to Tom Hall on winning the Triple Crown Winner award, Eunice

Lafavers on earning the Player Of The Year award, Verdell Woollard and Warren

Woolsey on being inducted into the FSHPA Hall of Fame, and to all of the other special

award winners.

I want to thank John Pautler of the Beverly Hills club and his crew for getting the

horseshoe courts in excellent playing condition and the members of the Beverly Hills

Horseshoe Club for all of their hard work to make the State Championship tournament a

success. The cocktail parties and the meal at the Awards Banquet were excellent.

Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all next season. For those of you

going to the World Tournament this year, Good Luck and Good Pitching and I hope to

see you there.

Randall, Jerry 75, of Inverness, died May 10, 2009. Jerry was born in Long Hill,

Connecticut on December 6^th, 1933. Jerry enlisted in the U. S. Navy at age of 17 and

served for four years. He built helicopters, drove trucks, and then did mechanic work for

twenty years. He owned his own garage for 6 ½ years in Washington and Litchfield,

Connecticut. He had a three piece band (Jerry and His Country Brothers) which played

all over Fairfield and Litchfield Counties in Connecticut. Jerry moved to New Hampshire

where he lived for 12 years before moving to Inverness, Florida in 1992.

Jerry was a member of the Beverly Hills Horseshoe Club where he served several years

as Tournament Director and club President. Jerry served on the FSHPA Executive

Council as 1^st Vice President, President, and Past President and was a member of the

FSHPA Hall of Fame. Jerry will be missed deeply by his horseshoe pitching friends.
