Comments from the Sec/Tres

                                               March 2007

The Executive Council meeting was held January 26, in Melbourne. Jerry Michalek, Melbournes club president was unable to attend. Marvin Grubb and John Peplinski informed the council of the clubs progress in preparing for this years state tournament.

The courts will be in excellent condition with the addition of Kentucky Blue Clay. Plans have been finalized for all the activities including the Clubs President meeting Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. Melbourne has proven to be a fine host for the state tournament. Make your plans to attend the 3-person team event making this a full week of competition and fun.

All information needed to attend the tournament is available in this newsletter. A few changes listed this year is the entry fee for all events will be $30.00. Score keepers will be paid $2.00 rather then $1.00 as in the past. Again there will be no refunds after the closing date. Request for Friday or Saturday pitching only; these requests, if possible will be put in a separate class on the day of request regardless if your class is scheduled that day. If there are not a sufficient number of requests received to make a class the entry will be refunded.

This years offices up for election are President, First and Third Vice Presidents. If you are interested in running for one of these positions contact a member of the election committee (Chairman Jerry Randall) or a council member. Plan now to attend this years State Tournament and cast your vote at the tournament site. If you are unable to attend, request an absentee ballot.

As of this writing we have 331 adult and 4 junior members. Last year at this time the total was 343 adult and 6 juniors. Hopefully we will surpass last year’s total of 399 adult and 10 junior members.
