COMMENTS FROM THE THIRD VICE PRESIDENT

 

Tournament Directors need to keep checking if players have their 2007 NHPA cards.  Most of you know you can check on the Florida Web Site under Latest Averages, it only takes a few minutes.   If an out of state players name is not there just ask to see their card.  All players should be proud to show their NHPA card.   

 

It is that time of year again when the Florida Tournament Directors will start sending me their club’s Schedule of Tournaments for 2007-2008.  We will work on the schedule by e-mail until we get the dates for each club, so they won’t conflict with another club in the same area.  Last year we scheduled 81 tournaments.   We will try to have the schedule finished by April 1st, so we will have it ready by the State Tournament or before. 

 

Jim Smith, our Florida State Promotional Chairman, is working on a Junior Pamphlet with the help of Eileen and Ed Fox and suggestions from the Executive Council.  The pamphlet explains about the Junior Program and what defines a junior pitcher, the costs for juniors to pitch, tournaments, leagues, how to get an application and the Junior Championship Scholarship Award.  The Junior Horseshoe Programs Pamphlet should be available at the Florida State Horseshoe Tournament at Melbourne in April.  We hope to interest many juniors to play this fun sport called horseshoes.      

 

I would like to close with a wish for all you Horseshoe Players “May you always have Love to share, Health to spare, Friends that care and Lots of Ringers.”  Hope to see you all at the Florida State Closed Championship Horseshoe Tournament at Melbourne in April.

                     CANDIDATE FOR 3RD VICE PRESIDENT

 

I am currently the 3rd Vice President and have served in this position for the last four years.  My main job the last four years was to do the yearly Schedule of Tournaments for the State of Florida.  Last year I worked with the Tournament Directors, and we scheduled 81 Tournaments for the year.

 

Another duty for the 3rd Vice President is to be the Director of the Junior Program Committee.   We are very fortunate in the State of Florida to have Eileen Fox as the Chairperson of the Junior Program Committee.  It has been a pleasure to work with Eileen and her committee.   I am also on the US Family Foundation Board of Directors, which handles the Florida Junior Horseshoe Pitchers Scholarship Award.
