I have been very busy the last year and a half as the Florida State Statistician. I have learned an enormous amount about the Florida Data Base from Marvin Grubb and John Peplinski. I have been recording players’ ringers and shoes pitched, games won and lost, and entering address changes and dues paid, and then sending the tournament results to NATSTATS. It has been a very educational and great life experience.

Jim Smith has been very patient with me showing me how to update the Horseshoe Clubs Web Sites with the results of their tournaments, so that when he goes on vacation I can be his backup.

I will continue to work hard and will help in any way I can for the improvement of the Sport of Horseshoes.

COMMENTS BY THE SECOND VICE PRESIDENT

In addition to tournament and league play, now is the time to practice for our State Closed Tournament. It should be a very good one. All players entering the doubles competition and those keeping score for doubles play are encouraged to review the revised doubles score sheet and the instructions thereon. You can find a copy of the score sheet in the September 2006 Newsletter or on the FSHPA web site. Please don’t wait until the tournament to learn the proper method for starting play and keeping score.

Please do not forget to vote for your FSHPA candidates during the election at the State Closed Tournament or by absentee ballot.
