COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

( Continued from previous page )

The first team that was submitted to Tournament Director Ron Deckard for this year’s tournament was Seabring, which far exceeded the 260-team cap with a team entering percentage of 312.39. St Cloud and 5 teams from Clearwater would not be able to field a team with the 260 cap. With that information it would mean that 42 of our members would be excluded from playing. The council voted 4 to 2 to remove the cap. Once the word got out clubs that have lower percentage teams feel why should they send a team when they will have no chance on being competitive. This included Brevard and Oviedo. So now the council was faced with either excluding 42 members on higher percentage teams or 24 to 30 players on lower percentage teams. Either way we go it would not be to the best interest of our members so I recommended to the council that this year’s tournament be cancelled. The council voted unanimously to cancel the tournament.

I apologize to you the members for not having the Club Team Tournament event. I know that this is a fun tournament and I will assure you that the council will do their utmost in seeing that the rules are fair and will not exclude anyone from this tournament.

What transpired over a 3-week period should not have happened. We must put forth the effort to do what is best for the members of our Association. The council must work together for what is best for our members instead of individual self-interest. As your President it is my job to make sure the council does just that.

In closing I would like to announce that I will seek reelection for the office of FSHPA Inc. President and I can assure you that I will continue to do what is best for ALL MEMBERS of the Association. I thank you in advance for your support and I am looking forward seeing you at the State Tournament.

Bob Hilpertshauser

President FSHPA Inc.
