COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

SEPTEMBER 2007

 

 

Not much has happened since the last newsletter in June. My comments in the June newsletter alluded to the fact that John Peplinski will not seek reelection as Secretary/Treasure. I asked that anyone interested in becoming Sec/Treas to give me a call. Am I surprised that no one called me. No. Disappointed may be more like it. We have 373 adult members and not one is willing to take this position. I know that out of 373 members there is someone that is qualified to be Sec/Treas. Past President Jerry Randall will appoint a nominating/election committee and it will be their responsibility to actively seek out a candidate for the office of Sec/Treas. I will be monitoring closely the progress in seeking a candidate for this very important position.

 

The 2007-2008 tournaments will be in full swing starting in September. I want to welcome a new club affiliation called “On Top Of The World” located in Ocala, Fl. Ed Lalonde is President/Treasure, Lois Tatonetti Secretary and Mike Tatonetti tournament director. Tournaments will be held on Friday with the first one on October 26, 2007. Let’s make their inaugural tournament a memorable one. 

 

Florida had 22 pitchers attend the World Tournament held in Ardmore, Oklahoma. In the Women’s Class C Regina Hawes came in second and in the Senior Ladies Championship she came in first and Verdell Woollard third. For the Men’s, in class A1 Walter Ray Williams Jr came in second and finish forth in the Men’s championship class. For the Senior men’s in class A Ron Deckard finished 3rd and came in first in the Senior Men’s championship class. Warren Woolsey came in 4th in Elders class A and 3rd in Elders champion class. Jim Premer came in third in Elder’s class E. Congratulations to all for a job well done.

 

On a sadder note we loss three of our members, Jerry McCulloch, Mo Duncan and Jim Hess. My sincere condolence goes out to their families and I know that they will be missed.

 

There was no Executive Council Meeting in the second quarter. The next meeting will be held on Monday October 15, 2007 at the Orlando Horseshoe Club starting at 10AM.
