COMMENTS FROM THE SEC/TRES

Congratulations to all the Florida members who were able to compete in this year’s World Tournament. A listing and finishing positions are posted in this newsletter.

As of this writing we have 343 adult and 11 junior NHPA members. This is down from last year’s total of 385 adults and 8 juniors. I feel this is due to the struggling economy and the NHPA dues increase. Total number of tournaments entries has remained high at 2542.

I am expecting the 2010 membership cards around the first week of October. Please send the attached member application ASAP to renew your card.

April 2010 Melbourne will host the 50th anniversary of the FSHPA.  Melbourne and the State Association will be working hard to make this a special event. Make your plans now to support and attend this tournament.

April 2010 will also complete my 10th year as Sec/Tres. Due to unforeseen family obligations I will not be a candidate for re-election. I will continue to support the FSHPA and our President as my time allows. Please contact Bob Hilpertshauser or myself for information on this position. Roberta and I look forward to seeing YOU through this tournament season.

REMEMBER: WE PROMOTE BY OUR ACTIONS ON AND OFF THE COURTS. REMAIN PROFESIONAL.

COMMENTS FROM THE THIRD VICE PRESIDENT

If you ever get a chance to visit the NHPA Hall of Fame in Wentzville, Missouri it is a very beautiful and nice place, which all of us horseshoe pitchers can be proud of.  My husband Bob and I stopped on our way to the World Horseshoe Tournament in Springfield, Illinois.  It was well worth the detour to see the NHPA Hall of Fame and to pitch my 100 shoes in the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament.

Just a reminder to the Tournament Directors if you would like your Horseshoe Club’s Tournament Class Schedules put on your clubs web site the Thursday or Friday before your tournaments just E-mail me your class schedules.  I will be glad to put your Class Schedules on your Horseshoe Clubs web site.  This way the players can see what time they are pitching and who is in their class.

I would like to congratulate Ron Deckard on winning his 3rd Senior Men’s World Championship.  Ron worked hard all year to be able to accomplish such an honor.

I am looking forward to the numerous horseshoe tournaments this Fall and visiting with the many horseshoe players in Florida and our Northern Horseshoe Friends.
